The Cleaner Portal

Every cleaner you add gets a personal link to a phone-friendly page listing your properties, what state each one is in, and a button to start and finish a clean. There’s no app to download, no password, and no account to create — the link is the login.

What your cleaner sees

Opening the link shows a list of your properties, each with its current state — dirty, in progress, occupied, clean, or ready — along with the next check-in time and when it was last cleaned. Tapping a property gives them a Start Cleaning button, and when they’re finished, Mark Clean.

They can undo a completed clean for 10 minutes afterwards, which covers the usual “tapped the wrong property” moment.

Cleaners never see door codes, guest names, or anything about your integrations. They see property names, cleaning state, and check-in timing.

Marking a property clean can let the next guest in early

This is the part worth knowing before you roll it out. If the next booking’s check-in is coming up and your cleaner marks the property clean early, GuestsKey can move that check-in forward and activate the guest’s code right then, notifying the guest that the place is ready.

That’s usually the behavior you want — it turns a finished clean into an early check-in without you brokering it. But it does mean a cleaner tapping Mark Clean is an action with guest-facing consequences, so it’s worth explaining when you hand out the link. The app warns them before confirming when check-in is near.

Cleaners live under Cleaners in the dashboard sidebar, under the More group. Add one with their name, PIN, and phone number, and the portal link is texted to them automatically.

From the same list you can copy the link, resend the text, regenerate the link if a phone is lost, or revoke it entirely. Regenerating immediately invalidates the old link and texts the new one.

The link is delivered by text message only. There’s an email field on the cleaner record, but nothing is sent to it today.

A cleaner’s link stays valid until you revoke or regenerate it. If someone leaves your team, revoke it — it won’t lapse on its own.

Portal access and door access are the same thing

Adding someone as a cleaner does two things at once: it gives them the portal link, and it gives them an always-on PIN that works on every lock across all of your properties. There’s no per-property assignment — every active cleaner sees every property in the portal and can open every door.

The relationship only runs one way. You can revoke someone’s portal link and leave their door PIN working, but you can’t give someone the portal without also giving them the PIN. If you revoke a link because someone left, revoke it and deactivate the cleaner — otherwise their code still opens your doors.

If you need to give someone access to a single property, or access to the portal without a working door code, a cleaner record isn’t the right tool. For one-off access to one property in a fixed window, use a one-time key instead.
