GuestsKey vs the alternatives

The quick version of our 2026 comparison: one card per competitor, who it's for, what it costs, and where it beats us. Some of these are the right answer instead of GuestsKey. We say which.

Facts checked against the source named on each card. Verify any dollar figure with the vendor before you buy; pricing changes faster than pages do.

GuestsKey

Dedicated smart-lock automation for OwnerRez, Hospitable, and Lodgify operators, and for Airbnb-only hosts via Hospitable Connect. Single hosts through medium portfolios.

Pricing
Per connected lock, graduated: from $4 (SmartThings) or $5 (Seam) per lock per month, dropping at 11+ and 31+. Every feature on every account.
Locks
Wi-Fi brands through Seam (Yale, Schlage, August, Kwikset, Lockly, Nuki, Ultraloq, Wyze, igloohome, Tedee, TTLock) and Z-Wave locks through a SmartThings hub.
Booking sources
OwnerRez (official partner), Hospitable (official partner, any plan), Lodgify, and Airbnb via Hospitable Connect. No Guesty, Hostaway, Smoobu, or Hostfully.
Beyond guest codes
Account-wide cleaner PINs and a cleaner portal, one-time vendor keys, a guest portal, shared locks across listings, opt-in emergency backup codes.

Dedicated automation platforms

Tools whose job is access automation, from focused per-lock products to broad guest-experience suites.

RemoteLock

The incumbent: access software plus its own and partner hardware, since 2008.

Best for
Larger portfolios that want hardware and software from one vendor and will pay for the consolidation.
Pricing
Premium $6/lock/mo billed annually (~$72/lock/yr); Enterprise $12/device. Hardware sold separately.
Locks
RemoteLock-branded hardware plus Schlage, Yale, Kwikset; wired and wireless under one platform.
Booking sources
Official OwnerRez integration.
Where they win

Turn-key for non-technical hosts who don't want to source hardware separately.

Where we win

Lower per-lock cost with no plan caps (Premium limits 5 account managers, 150 access guests, and 90 days of event history). Read the customer-review record in the full comparison before committing a portfolio.

The deepest hardware-and-software stack in the category, and the one the full comparison specifically steers OwnerRez hosts away from. The plan caps and the recent review record are both in there.

Jervis Systems

Per-device smart-home automation: locks, garage doors, thermostats, lights.

Best for
Hosts who want one platform for locks, thermostats, lights, and garage on a simple per-device price.
Pricing
$6 per active device per month. Free trial.
Locks
Broad device classes beyond locks; partners with KoreLock for lock hardware.
Booking sources
OwnerRez, Hostaway, Guesty, Escapia, and others. Also on Hospitable's own smart-lock partner list.
Where they win

Many device classes on one bill, and Guesty/Hostaway coverage we don't have.

Where we win

Door codes are the whole product: lower per-lock price ($4–$5 vs $6 for the first ten), free Airbnb-only onboarding via Hospitable Connect with no subscription, and the guest and cleaner portals.

The per-device alternative on OwnerRez. If you’re on Guesty or Hostaway, Jervis is one of the tools we’d point you at instead of us. If door codes are the job, we’re the narrower, cheaper tool.

Lynx

All-in-one automation: locks, thermostats, intercoms, noise sensors, guest portal, mobile keys.

Best for
Multi-PMS managers who want locks, thermostats, and a guest portal under one roof at per-property pricing.
Pricing
Tiered (Lite and Enterprise); dollar amounts not publicly listed. Demo on request.
Locks
Claims 400+ IoT device types; issues both PIN codes and digital mobile keys.
Booking sources
OwnerRez, Track, Streamline, Cloudbeds, Mews, Guesty, Hostaway, Lodgify, Hostfully, Escapia, WebrezPro.
Where they win

Breadth of PMS coverage, mobile keys, and per-property pricing that can beat per-device on multi-lock homes.

Where we win

Transparent per-lock pricing you can read without a sales call, and a product whose whole job is door codes.

A platform, not a lock tool. Most advanced features sit in the Enterprise tier, and the door-code workflow is one module among many. If that breadth is what you’re buying, Lynx is a real option; if you just want codes that work, it’s more platform than you need.

Enso Connect

Guest-experience platform (Boarding Pass, AI messaging, upsells) with locks integrated.

Best for
Managers who prioritize guest experience and upsell revenue and have the per-stay revenue to justify per-listing pricing.
Pricing
Per-listing tiers plus an implementation fee; specific amounts by quote.
Locks
Direct integrations with Yale, August, Schlage, Lockly, and Salto, plus an Akiles partnership (verify the current list with Enso).
Booking sources
One of the marketplace options Guesty and Hostaway point hosts to; the center of gravity is the guest-experience layer, not the PMS list.
Where they win

A deep guest-experience layer and upsell revenue; locks are one part of a much bigger product.

Where we win

If all you want is code automation, we're the cheaper, simpler tool, with published per-lock pricing and no implementation fee.

Buy Enso for the guest-experience layer, and you get lock automation as part of it. Don’t buy Enso for lock automation alone.

Operto (Connect + Boost)

Premium guest-experience suite, plus a retrofit module for existing mechanical locks.

Best for
Mid-to-large operators and boutique hotels with the budget for a premium, sales-led, multi-device platform.
Pricing
Quote-based for both. Boost adds a per-door install fee on top of the subscription.
Locks
Connect uses Seam for part of its lock connectivity plus direct brand integrations; Boost retrofits mechanical locks with an IoT module.
Booking sources
Broad PMS coverage; one of the marketplace options Guesty and Hostaway steer hosts toward.
Where they win

Enterprise and boutique-hotel scale, and the only retrofit path here for locks you can't replace.

Where we win

Self-serve onboarding, published pricing, and a fit for 1–50-door portfolios that a sales-led suite isn't built for.

Established and upmarket. Small hosts won’t get a clean quote, and if your locks are already Wi-Fi or Z-Wave, Boost is a retrofit you don’t need. For larger operations that want the whole Operto family, it’s a serious choice.

Built into your PMS

The lock feature each PMS sells or bundles: a paid add-on on OwnerRez and Lodgify, included on Hospitable Professional and Mogul. Sometimes the right answer; we say when.

OwnerRez native lock automation

OwnerRez's own Schlage, igloohome, and Hubitat integrations at $4 per lock per month, plus a directory of partner lock systems.

Best for
An OwnerRez host with one Schlage Encode, an igloohome, or a Hubitat hub they already run, and no appetite for a second vendor.
Pricing
$4 per lock per month for each of the three lock systems OwnerRez bills per lock (Schlage, igloohome, Hubitat), as of August 2026; Hubitat also needs its own $3/month Remote Admin subscription.
Locks
Schlage Encode family, igloohome, and Z-Wave/Zigbee locks through a Hubitat hub (an advanced-user option by OwnerRez's own description). One lock system per property. Anything else means a partner system like GuestsKey.
Booking sources
OwnerRez only, by definition.
Where they win

One vendor, one bill, and it's already inside the OwnerRez dashboard you use every day. One lock can serve several properties (Common Doors).

Where we win

SmartThings hub locks and every Seam brand, always-on cleaner PINs with a portal, one-time keys, opt-in backup codes, and repeat-guest duplicate-code handling. We're listed in OwnerRez's own Door Locks directory.

If your hardware is a single Schlage Encode (or an igloohome, or a Hubitat you already run) and your workflow is just guest codes, OwnerRez native is the path of least resistance at $4 a lock, plus whatever the hardware side charges (Hubitat’s Remote Admin runs $3 a month). Step outside that — a Yale on a SmartThings hub, a Lockly, a cleaner who needs an always-on code — and you’re outside its footprint.

Hospitable native smart devices

Lock and thermostat automation bundled into Hospitable's Professional and Mogul plans.

Best for
A Professional or Mogul subscriber with one Wi-Fi keypad per listing, one listing per door, and no cleaner-code needs.
Pricing
Included on Professional ($59/mo, 2 devices per active property) and Mogul ($99/mo, 4 devices); $5 per additional device. Not available on Essentials or Host.
Locks
Hospitable's own partner list: August, Igloohome, Jervis, Nuki, Schlage, SmartThings, TT Lock, Yale. Confirm your exact model there.
Booking sources
Hospitable only, by definition.
Where they win

Already paid for if you're on Professional or Mogul, and it's enough for simple setups. We say so.

Where we win

Works on any Hospitable plan via OAuth (no upgrade), free for Airbnb-only hosts via Hospitable Connect, and adds cleaner PINs, one-time keys, shared-lock setups, and the guest and cleaner portals.

We’re an official Hospitable partner and we’ll still tell a Professional or Mogul host with a simple setup to use the built-in feature. The case for us starts on Host or Essentials, or when you have a cleaner, a shared door, or a lock that isn’t on Hospitable’s list.

Lodgify Smart Locks

Lodgify's own per-device add-on, launched February 2025, with Nuki as the headline partner.

Best for
A new Lodgify host with one supported lock who wants to stay entirely inside Lodgify.
Pricing
$7 USD (£6 / €6) per connected device per month, charged in advance.
Locks
Nuki is the official partner; the current brand list lives inside your Lodgify account's smart lock settings.
Booking sources
Lodgify only, by definition.
Where they win

One vendor, one bill, and code sharing inside Lodgify's own guest messages.

Where we win

From $4 (SmartThings) or $5 (Seam) per lock, Seam and SmartThings brand breadth, cleaner codes, one-time keys, and the guest portal.

At one Nuki the gap is modest and staying inside Lodgify is a fair call. The comparison tips when you add a cleaner, a second lock, or a brand that isn’t on Lodgify’s list.

The lock as the integration

Manufacturer-direct paths that skip software entirely for a narrow profile.

Schlage Encode + Airbnb direct

No software at all: the Encode talks to Airbnb through Schlage's own app integration.

Best for
An Airbnb-only host in the US or Canada with one or two listings and no cleaner who needs their own code.
Pricing
$0 subscription. Encode about $299 MSRP, Encode Plus about $329.
Locks
Schlage Encode, Encode Plus, Encode Lever.
Booking sources
Airbnb reservations only; a booking from a PMS or any other channel isn't seen.
Where they win

Zero monthly cost for the narrow profile it fits. That's a real answer and we say so.

Where we win

Any supported PMS, cleaner and vendor codes, a second lock brand, and shared doors. The direct integration was US and Canada only as of May 2026.

If you fit the profile, buy the Encode and skip us. The moment a PMS, a cleaner, or a non-Schlage lock enters the picture, you need a layer that talks to both sides.
